Layered Grain
Layered Grain is a sculptural timber wall installation composed of layered hardwood bands, each individually shaped to create flowing, organic contours. The carved surfaces reveal the natural character of the wood grain, forming a rhythmic landscape that runs vertically through the space. Alternating tones of light and dark timber add depth and contrast, echoing geological strata or shifting terrain.
At the centre, a geometric mirror interrupts the flowing layers, acting as a window within the composition and reflecting light back into the carved surface. The work balances precision with organic movement, transforming a functional architectural wall into a tactile landscape of wood and light.
